Approaching D-Day

So my due date is 2 days away - not that it really means anything. Only 5% of babies are born on their actual due date. There have been a couple of developments, but nothing I'd like to share with the world :) Needless to say, we are all waiting patiently for the littlest HumanTeam to arrive. No pressure. He can come whenever he wants. At least we know he'll be here by April 5th.

We'll keep you posted.

All Hail the Buddha

Everyone keeps asking what I look like, so I had the DH take some pictures of the ever expanding belly. Didn't Homer Simpson say "Rub the Buddha, feel the power?"

There is definitely a change since last month. I am rounder in the belly and our little peanut is no longer little. According to the "averages," he should be around 7 pounds or so. We all know that averages are just that - averages. I guess we will have to wait and see how "average" the newest Humanteam will be.

I have discovered the wonderful wardrobe accessory of the husband dress shirt. They are great for layering and look mostly put together with whatever is under them. At this point, anything that is non constricting and soft feels great.

For now, we are in the hurry up and wait scenario. A watched pot never boils - I assume the same holds true with a baby!

Enjoy the pictures... :)

Baby Shower

Well my Co-workers at the nation's paper threw me a surprise shower. My loving wife actually was able to keep the secret. Sneaky git that she is...
I would like to thank everybody that help with the shower and gave so very generously to Baby HumanTeam.
I was shocked and humbled by the gifts that we received.

( I am actually a week late on this news)

No news on the little one. Probably going to be late like his dad. oh well he'll come on out when he is ready I suspect.

Happy St. Patrick's Day while I'm at it.

Stubborn.... where'd he get that?

So yesterday marked the beginning of week 38. Spring is in the air at least until tomorrow. Today 75, tomorrow 35. Don't we all love the ides of March. Flowers are poking their heads out of the ground, the birds are chirping, and my dear son does not want to see his new world...

Went to the lovely Dr. this morning with DH. Weight and blood pressure check all fine. Baby's heartbeat and measurement all fine. And the moment of truth -- the exam-- nothing. No change from last week. He hasn't dropped down. He's quite comfortable and cozy in the land of mom.

The only saving grace is that my Dr. has put me on the induction schedule for April 5th. What a lovely birthday present! That is 8 days AFTER my due date - instead of the usual 12-14 days that they usually wait. She didn't want me to suffer any more with the swelling, because I'm sure by then I'll be miserably swollen.

Dear Dr. said feels that there is only about a 30% chance that he'd come near my due date on his own. She thinks he'll need a little coaxing. Imagine that - stubborn already.

Oh well. We'll just have to wait and see. Tomorrow is a new day :)

The Waiting Game

OK, so here's the deal... I'm 9.5 months pregnant. To the normal person that doesn't seem soo bad. However, if you are 9.5 months pregnant - it's a big freaking deal.

First of all, my doctor's appointments are weekly - yes I said weekly. So not only do I have to rearrange my work and home schedules, but I also get poked and prodded even more.

Second, everything is starting to ache. I haven't seen my feet in months, but now I know they hurt. They are swollen and don't even remotely resemble the feet I knew 9 months ago. My Dr. informed me that the only way to relieve some of the swelling is to lie flat - not exactly the most effective for a working professional.

Third, I'm tired. Tired of getting up to pee 4 times a night. Tired of not getting a full night's sleep, because if I'm not pee'ing, I'm staring at the darkness for no reason. Gone are the days when I slept a full 8 hours uninterrupted. Oh well, I guess it's nature's way of preparing me for what is about to come.

And finally - I want the baby out! I have 21 days until my due date and they can't come fast enough. Please don't misunderstand -- I love the kicks, nudges, and hiccups that I feel every day from my son, but I am tired of being pregnant. My shoes and clothes no longer fit properly and my body is starting to resist. My Dr. said yesterday that there is still some time to go - he's not ready to come out yet.... All I can say is - poor husband.

More Nursery Updates

So this weekend was more about us instead of the baby. We bought some new clothes, household appliances, and curtains. All in all, it was the closest I could come to retail therapy at the present time.

We did however get a light for the nursery from IKEA. It's really cute and I hope will work nicely for the 3 am diaper changes and feedings.
